The Caspar David Friedrich Centre is located in the old town of Greifswald next to St Nicholas' Cathedral in the former home and business premises of the Friedrich family, now under a preservation order. Visitors enter the building from the Lange Straße no. 57, which is Greifswald’s main shopping street and a pedestrianized zone.
